Blue Christmas, A Service of Remembrance
Thursday, Dec. 20 | 6:30 pm | Zion Sanctuary
The holidays are often the loneliest time of the year for those who have experienced recent loss, illness or loneliness in their lives. These losses can be the death of a loved one, loss of a job, divorce, death of a dear pet, loss of health, abuse, loss of identity or any of the other losses people deal with. Join us for a Blue Christmas Worship service on Thursday, December 20 where we will be able to grieve these losses and to admit that maybe we are just not able to be happy and upbeat this holiday season while everyone around us is celebrating. It allows us to acknowledge our losses and our pain, and to take comfort in God’s love and care for us, especially in sending Jesus, who experiences loss and grief as we do. You will have an opportunity to light a candle as a way of remembering someone who has left your life or someone or something you have left behind. As we bring our grief and our pain to God, may we experience God’s love, God’s hope, and God’s peace.
