Values to Guide our Life Together
The Zion Lutheran faith community seeks to live three essential God-given values as passionate disciples.
We hear God calling us to be welcoming, growing and serving along our pathway as passionate disciples. Each of these three values is defined further. Welcoming disciples are worshiping and caring faith people. Growing disciples are learning and praying faith people. Serving disciples are sharing and blessing faith people. This is who we are as individuals and as a faith community. We celebrate life together from these strengths, from these values that define who we are and how we live.
These values guide the mission and ministry of the congregation. They shape the questions we ask as passionate disciples. Is this schedule welcoming? Does this support the way we worship God? Is this a caring decision? How can we help one another grow in faith, learn and deepen a life of prayer?
2:42 Long Range Plan
The Zion faith community is moving forward in mission and ministry.
Guided by the New Testament's Book of Acts, chapter 2, verse 42, the people of
Zion are responding to God's call to be welcoming, growing and serving. These are exciting times for the
Church. God calls the faithful to be welcoming, growing and serving
people, celebrating life together along the 2:42 way.

Worship
|
Weekly worship is the central, weekly event for passionate disciples of
Jesus Christ. Each weekend in worship God is present for you in the
Word and Sacraments. Jesus Christ meets you to forgive, renew, love and
give perspective. Jesus Christ also meets your family members and all
the fellow members of the body of Christ. Worship is both a deeply
personal event, and a communal moment. The Holy Spirit calls you to
worship this weekend, and every Sabbath.

The 2:42 way proclaims that passionate disciples of Jesus Christ are
devoted to the apostles’ teaching. That little word, “are,” gives it
away. It is an ongoing journey along the 2:42 way. As the passionate
disciples of Jesus Christ we never stop growing, learning and praying.
We live and discuss the great questions of faith and life from the
cradle to the grave.
Every Sunday morning there are opportunities for you to ask the
great questions as we grow in faith together, as kids, youth and adults.
For adults, there are great plans for your faith growth.
Sunday morning adult learning at 9 or 10 am:
-
Year Long Bible Study led by Pastor Mark Tiede. Each lesson stands on it's own, so come when you can and enter the Greatest Story: Jesus.
- Faith Reads, Contemporary Readings for Faith and Life with Pastor Peter. Join Pastor Peter on Sunday, February 19 and 26 at 10am for the study of Phyllis Tickle's, The Great Emergence. It is a wonderful book on the changes that seem to confront the Church every 500 years. Copies of the book are available in the Cornerstone Book Store.
- Wednesday Night Bible Study with Pastor Peter - the next study will begin on January 11. It will be the amazing New Testament Letter for the Romans. A study guide is available in the Cornerstone Book Store. The class meets from 6:30-7:30.
- Coming in the Spring, a study of the Gospel of Mark
- The Good and Beautiful Life, a book conversation with Pastor Kathie Nycklemoe, will begin on January 11 at 10 am and at 6:30 pm on Wednesday.
Zion Lutheran Church is a faith community where the value to grow opens
us to God, allows all questions and seeks to encourage and affirm you
as you journey the 2:42 way.
