On November 20, the Zion Ringmasters performed the world premiere of a handbell piece commissioned specifically for them in memory of former Ringmaster member, Karen Krantz. The piece, Arirang, was arranged by Jason Krug, a well-known composer and arranger of handbell music. A Korean folk song, Arirang was chosen by Karen’s husband, Alan, to pay homage to their adopted children’s Korean heritage. The song expresses both the longing to be with family and loved ones and the joy of what can be accomplished by working together. Arirang will be published with a dedication to Karen and the Ringmasters. Hopefully handbell choirs all over the world will choose to play this beautiful song.
