Family Promise in Anoka County
Zion continues to participate in four Family Promise hosting weeks a year. Our remaining 2026 weeks are September 13-19 and December 13-19.
Family Promise is an organization that supports families experiencing homelessness as they work toward stable housing. Before COVID, Zion hosted families overnight for a week, providing meals, transportation, activities for children, and overnight hospitality. One of the greatest gifts of that ministry was the opportunity to build relationships with the families we served. Since the pandemic, our hosting weeks looked very different. We prepared and delivered hospitality baskets to families staying at other locations, with little opportunity for personal interaction. This fall we return to a more hands-on way of serving families which may include preparing and sharing meals with the families, entertaining children while parents attend meetings and sharing in family activities.
Because Family Promise has updated its volunteer policies, everyone serving during our designated weeks will need to have completed a new volunteer training developed by the national Family Promise organization.
