Zion’s Social Justice Team is highlighting small, potentially overlooked ethnic restaurants where anyone so inclined can gather for new food experiences and fellowship! We are calling these gatherings “OUR NEIGHBORS’ TABLE.” Wear your Zion name badge (so we can recognize each other) and join us on the second and third Thursdays of each month as we celebrate the gift of global diversity right here in the north metro! Below is July’s schedule.

  • Thursday, July 9 Lunch: Bolé Ethiopian Cuisine –15609 Grove Circle N, Maple Grove; Ethiopian food features bold, highly-seasoned flavors, some might call spicy, but not necessarily hot. Bolé’s menu features tasty items like sambusas (a crispy pastry filled either with beef or veggies) and Ethiopian takes on familiar American foods (like burgers or a beef tenderloin sandwich). But what might really give you a sample into Ethiopian food would be to split with 3 or 4 people (maybe more) one of several options for family-style platters served with a unique flat bread called injera–think of a cross between a tortilla and pancake. • Thursday, July 16 Supper: El Tarasco Taqueria – 506 E. River Road, Anoka; Located where Marco’s Pizza used to be, next door to Mike’s Discount Foods—traditional-style tacos, burritos, and bowls. Probably the closest immigrant-owned restaurant to the church. If you’d like to take a look at the menu: eltarascomn.com/menu.php
